USB Cell – The Battery You Can Recharge Anywhere at Anytime

Christmas has been and gone, and many of us were lucky enough to receive a new mouse, Bluetooth device, camera or some other piece of wonderful gadgetry that takes batteries?
These days most devices come with batteries included, but what happens when they run out? You throw them away and buy some new ones. This means more money and even more environmental waste.

A company called Moixa has a come up with a great idea in the form of USB cells, which are rechargeable batteries that can turn any USB port on a computer, laptop or even a USB hub into a battery charger, which means you no longer need a normal battery charger, because you can easily recharge them on the go, in the office or at home.
How do they work?
The USB cell rechargeable batteries have a Built in Intelligent Charger of there own, and have been designed for real-world ease of use, all you do is to flip the cap on the top of the battery, and plug them into any powered USB port.
How long do they take to charge?
When you first buy them they take 5-7 hours to charge fully. After that, charging for just a few minutes provides many hours of instant use for most input devices, these batteries aren’t affected by partial charging or ‘memory’ problems, unlike Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) batteries.
When charging, they’ve got a convenient rim which lights up, and when the battery reaches 90% starts to blink slowly, and then fades to black when fully charged.

By making it easier to recharge batteries we can help the environment: easier recharging means more frequent use, which means fewer disposable batteries get made and thrown away.
These batteries are also perfect when you are traveling with a laptop or just don’t have or need a charger, however you can use a charger as long as its compatible with the batteries.
To be honest these batteries have been out a while, and some of you may use them. I have only wrote this article now, as when they first came out they only made AA batteries which only covered a few devices. Now there are AAA, 9v, C size, phone and PDA batteries which will cover just about every device going.

Moxia even have a no Quibble one month refund policy, if you live in the UK the postage is free, if you live outside the UK you can send them by 2nd class, and if a postage receipt is enclosed they will even refund the postage.
Overall I think these batteries are a brilliant idea, but at the moment a little overpriced for rechargeable batteries ($19.95 for a pair of AAs or just over £10 in UK with free delivery). Like everything else the more that are made the cheaper they will become.
Well worth having a few in your home or office.

Do you already use these batteries, what do you think of them?
