How to Enhance Your Right Click Options in XP

Right clicking on a File or Folder and using the ‘Send To’ option in Windows can come in really handy at times, even though it is a little limited. You can add shortcuts to the Send To option menu as it is just a folder in windows, but by downloading a program called Send To Toys, you open up a number of very useful options and commands.
Send To Toys is a free application and only 737KB in size, which means that it takes minutes to download and install.

Once installed, Send To Toys automatically opens up a Control Panel Applet which allows you to gain control of the Send To system menu content. The Control Panel Applet enables you to add or remove items, and configure the various Send To Toys settings.

Lets take a look at some of the smart features in this program:

Send To Clipboard (as name), this allows you to copy a filename or a foldername onto the clipboard and paste the full path into an application. This can prevent transcription errors. One of the best features about Send To Toys is that if you hold down the Ctrl key, you can change the settings for the extension.

Send To Command Prompt, opens up a command prompt window and this will run the selected file or folder here. Hold down the Ctrl key to change the active directory to a different folder. Hold down the SHIFT key to force the use of the COMMAND.COM regardless of the Windows version. Useful if you know about command line operations.

Send To Default Mail Recipient, click on this and a new email is automatically created with attachments and predefined defaults for the recipients, subject and even the message. This is a very efficient and quick way to send someone a file. Hold down the Ctrl key and you can add or change the settings.

Send To Folder, this sends the selected file, files or folder to another folder, a dialog box will pop up and you can choose where to copy or send them.
To move the files press and hold down the SHIFT key. To create a shortcut hold down the SHIFT and Ctrl keys, this will leave the file or folder in its original place.

Send To Recycle Bin, nothing different there you might think, but if you hold down the Ctrl key your file is shredded permanently.

There are many more commands that you can use with Send To Toys as this programme is highly configurable.

As I wrote earlier, this is a free application and well worth using, I highly recommend it. Click here to go to the website.
