Have you seen a G.ho.st.

I recently wrote about Web 2.0 and how great some of the web sites are, I recently started playing around with a web site called Ghost which basically is a Web based Desktop with some built in applications. Although at the moment it is very basic, keep your eye on it as the Guys who own and run it have big plans (coming in July I believe). What I do like about it is you can use the FTP server and they give you 3GB for free so it is great for uploading any files that you may need or want to view at work or if you travel etc.

Give it go.

I have tried it a bit and it looks promising. I have been using virtualization software now for the past three years, and in some respects, G.ho.st would be the next evolution of that.

If at some point in the future, we could go from having a discrete desktop, to just having a thin client that accessed a service like G.ho.st remotely, it would definitely make computing a lot more portable, and the footprint on the environment a lot smaller.

    Marc,
I agree, I definitely think that online desktops are going to be used much more in the future. Access all your software and applications anywhere in the world, now theres a thought.
    Regards.
