Goals, do we really need them?

Many people don’t have goals and just wander through life day by day, week by week, and then wonder where the time went and feel that they didn’t seem to accomplish much in their life. How many older people do you hear saying I wish I had done that when I was younger or if I had my time over again I would have done more.
Many people work very hard at what they do but without setting goals find that their hard work doesn’t yield meaningful results.
Goals keep you on track and allow you to do anything you want in life, a quote from Henry Ford ‘if you think you can you can’ and that is something that I remember everyday, with goals you can move mountains and that is something I truly believe. You can choose just to wander through life or you choose to accomplish your dreams, which one do you want to do?
Below are some benefits of goal setting:
• Goals establish direction for your life, if you never set a goal, how will you know where you are going.
• Goals identify results. If you don’t have any goals, how do you measure your progress?
• Goals challenge you to grow.
• Goals setting improves your self image and can help you become more confident.
• Goal setting forces you to be specific, it’s the first positive step to success.
I hope I have convinced you to set some goals, if I have I want to try the below:
1. Write down any goals that you want to achieve, you must write them down as this is the first step into making them happen. Your goals can be anything from going out with friends on Friday night to changing your life or your job, or wanting to travel around the world etc.
2. Imagine yourself actually doing that goal, go over it as specific as you can in your mind and do this everyday.
3. Work out exactly what it is you have to do to achieve that goal, step by step.
4. Write a date down of when you would like to have that goal achieved in big letters.
5. Put your goals on the bedroom wall where you can see them when you go to bed.
6. Start making that goal real.
Give it a try and see if you can achieve your first goal, and then let me know what you have managed to accomplish. Do you have any other ideas for accomplishing your goals if so I would be very interested to know.
