Information Addicts

Imagine trying to type or tap a 500 word document on your Pocket PC, it could be done but it would be a pain staking process as the soft keyboard or any means of input that comes preinstalled on the Pocket PC isn’t very user friendly to say the least.
I have tried many different software keyboards in the past and some have helped me type faster and some are a total waste of time and money.
A few weeks ago I installed an application called TouchPal Soft Keyboard from a company called CooTek, as I liked the look and style of the interface and the keys looked quite simplistic to use.
My first impressions of this keyboard were the keys looked thumb and finger friendly and at first I found the keyboard a little tricky to get used to. However after watching the video and reading the excellent help file which is available for download soon found it a joy to use.
The keyboard works by touching a key and sliding your thumb very slightly to the left or right for a letter or down for a symbol.

Take a look at this video which is worth watching because it gives you an overview of the application and also how to use it.
As you can see the video shows someone typing at speeds of up to 300 word per minute, I cannot achieve this yet but with more practice who knows.
Pros:
• Easy to use once you get used to it.
• Free if you download it before December 8th
• Quite addictive to use.
• And did I mention its free.
Cons
• If you have big thumbs you might find it difficult to type, but this goes for most other soft keyboards.
• I had a little difficulty trying to type the ‘p’ and ‘a’ keys but that could be to do with my devices design.
• Not as fast as an attached keyboard.
Overall, I highly recommend that you try this application because once you have it installed you may not want to back to the preinstalled Microsoft Windows soft keyboard.
