Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and many people seem to either miss it or have the same old thing every morning. I like to vary my breakfast and always look forward to it when I get up. I am going to show you how to make a simple Muesli that not only tastes really nice but is also quite low in fat, very good for you and will help to boost your energy levels.
The ingredients you will need below can be bought from most Supermarkets or Health shops and are not just for one day but should give you up to 2 weeks:
1 kg mixed bag of rolled oats and wheat flakes, or you could use 1kg bag of Jumbo oats or 1kg bag of wheat flakes if you don’t like one or the other.
250grams High fibre Bran sticks not Bran flakes
100grams Cashew nuts
125grams Sunflower seeds
100grams Chopped dates
100grams of any dried chopped fruit (apples, apricots, bananas)
100grams of pumpkin seeds
100grams of seedless raisins or sultanas
The great thing about this Muesli is that you can add or take away any ingredient you want, for example you could add some almonds, peanuts, or pecan nuts and other seeds that you like, or not add so many raisins or sultanas.
Put all the ingredients in a container and mix them up or what I like to do is put the lid on and gently shake it until it looks mixed. Now all you have to do is pour some of your Muesli in a bowl and cover with semi-skimmed milk, chopped banana if you like and a bit of honey, put it in the fridge for 15-30 minutes and there you have it, a delicious start to your day. Try it and let me know what you think. What’s your favourite breakfast on a morning, or do you not have one?
