2 Slick Applications to Make Windows XP Function Like Vista

Make Windows XP Function Like Vista

Windows XP was released around seven years ago, yet most users still prefer using it over Vista. Looking at the stats for this site the majority of my readers also use XP.
Vista was hyped as the greatest Operating System ever but failed miserably, however it is packed with excellent features and has looks to die for. Lack of upgrades for hardware components and software applications made some systems inoperable and this made Vista unpopular.

I decided to write some articles on how to make windows XP look, feel and function more like Vista, and in my first post “How to Change The Windows XP Welcome Screen…” I showed you how to make the welcome screen look more like Vista.
In this article I will show you two more add-ons that will make XP feel slicker and give it a bit more functionality.

The first application is called Winflip which emulates Vistas innovative Windows switching tool.
To switch between open applications or windows in XP you can use the Alt and Tab keys, but Winflip goes one better and allows you to see your open windows in 3D, which not only makes it easier to read your open applications but it also looks mighty good.
Other applications exist on the internet, but are quite processor intensive. Winflip on the other hand is not, and at only 823KBs in size is one light weight application.
The great thing with Winflip is that you can even install it on a USB drive and use it on any pc.
With Winflip you can switch between applications using either key tabs, mouse, or even key gestures.
You can configure the application to suit your every need, including the ability to change the texture quality, the window size and the anti-aliasing quality.

The next application is called Vista Drive Icon which simply changes the drive icons in Windows “My Computer” to mimic the Vista icons. You will also notice that underneath the new icons is a smooth coloured horizontal bar which shows how much free space is on each drive, these little bars can prove to be very useful.
